Just stumbled across this substack, Ted, and it's given me much to think about (almost too much!) as someone interested in community and having worked/volunteered for membership organisations for most of my adult life. You made me think of work such as the recent book on the Power of Ritual (Casper Ter Kuile). I'm now thinking about what do we do about it. Keep writing - really glad I found this.
